About Us

Watchdog Business Solutions is an un-funded business venture, currently organized as a sole proprietorship in the name of Christopher M. Larsen in Oceanside, CA.

With a background in business accounting and operations, Larsen set out to learn software development at Coleman College in San Marcos, CA. At the time, his focus was on Windows application development, and he primarily used Visual Basic as the programming language, with MS Access as the data store.

While attending school, Larsen worked at several businesses as an accounting specialist, mainly focusing on A/P, A/R and G/L. One of Larsen's jobs was at an actions sports magazine publisher in Oceanside, CA. His responsibilities involved full-cycle accounts receivable. In his role, he was tasked to develop solutions for some rampant deficiencies in the systems that were being implemented as a result of a major merger, which affected the business unit. When word got out that he could write software, and the publisher of one of the trade magazines put him to work on a piece of software that took raw data from a CSV file, and created an equal place ranking based on the data.

At this position, one of Larsen's responsibilities was to assist in the processing of credit applications for new customers. The manual nature of the process (faxed application and trade reference forms completed by hand, many to one relational entities, illegible print) was arduous and time consuming. There was only one point of failure in managing the information, and it was Larsen. If he took a vacation, that meant that the process would stop, which he thought wasn't acceptable because it may result in lost sales. He wanted to remove the point of failure, and at the same time increase the efficiency and accuracy of the information gathering process with a computerized system which became ClearTerms.

ClearTerms was a windows application which follows the same concept of the current version (ClearTerms.com) except it was a bit more primitive. It needed to be installed on at-least one computer, and if the software was going to be used by more than one user, the database needed to be located on network resource which required the assistance of the IT department to install and configure.

Realizing that there is a major shift to cloud-computing, and that ClearTerms was obsolete, Larsen set out to develop a web-based application that implemented the same functionality that ClearTerms had, and more. There have been three version of ClearTerms.com since Larsen becan development. The programming method used is mainly procedural. Larsen is in the process of implementing OOP.

Larsen is a strong back-end developer, and his sites seemed a bit too web 1.0 for his liking. He met his front-end development partner, Robert Stewart, in 2010 and soon began to work on projects together. Stewart does amazing work with user experience and design, and his style blends quite well with Larsen's style. Their common knowledge is with Javascript which wourks well when creating interactive components.

Larsen asked Stewart if he would re-vamp the look of ClearTerms.com. Stewart agreed and came up with a fresh, crisp and clean design. He e-mailed the HTML and CSS to Larsen, and within a couple of week, the code had been re-factored, and Stewart's work was published.
